An article came across in an email, you know, the ones that get you and open because the subject line is just brilliant! the subject line….Why Your Career Needs Plastic Surgery–Literaly
Our chosen “Career” is real estate, and right about now it feels like plastic surgery was preformed on the housing market, the knife slipped and now we are left with a need for “re-constructive surgery”
Take a few minutes to read the article, it’s really written and targeted for the corporate worker of todays market place. But, think about it….be honest, when you “look good” you “feel good”….right? I’m not so sure plastic surgery is the answer to making more money….but, I do know that when I’m working out regularly I have a much clearer perspective and a ton more energy. Having a daily regiment that includes exercise keeps me charged up and ready for my day.
Times are tough right now, and everyone is feeling this bad economy. Coming out on top of this situation is going to take some extra effort and most likely doing things differently than we have in the past. I suggest you pick up a copy of Who Moved My Cheese? by Author Spencer Johnson, MD. I’ve read it at least a dozen times over the years, and it’s always a reminder that to move forward….you can’t stay in the same place as you were yesterday.
Here’s an interesting excerpt from the article:
Go to the gym. There are some things you can’t control, but you can control your weight. So if you want to succeed in business, you must exercise. Ninety percent of CEOs work out three times a week because they know powerful people are almost always fit. Successful people also have self-discipline — as exhibited by their workout schedule — and there is more research than you can imagine on the benefits of exercise: You think better, you are a better friend, and you have more self-discipline in other areas of your life.
It all comes back to how we deal with what’s going on right now. Listen to the news, read any paper and it’s downright scary! 1 out of every 4 homeowners with a mortgage are underwater…or have no equity. In fact, 1 in every 7 homeowners with a mortgage are in default.
So, back to not being able to control the world….you can control YOU, what you think, what you do, what you don’t do…..
